Hi all

Lorna has looked at ice skating next week as there is NO VOLLEYBALL next week. But we did think about going out, not sure any of the French members of the club will be there as they might still be crying…….:-) Please let Lorna, Jason or me know if you think you’ll come along so we can keep a look out and wait for you.

Oxford have had there 1st league games of the new season and it was the gents who started it off.

For some reason we had to be in Reading at 10.00am on a Sunday morning and to make it worse it was the morning after England beat France in the Ruby and knocking them out of there world cup…..

Anyway we all got there 6 big boys and Yang had very kindly come along to cover just in case one of us needed medical attention. Jason from a late night clubbing, Tigger from his shoulder and making a mile stone age a few weeks ago, Rune from still having a soar ass from getting knocked over Thursday, me (Neil) form Rune punching me for going on and on about knocking him over, Mark form his night out in London hung over I think and Jeff from his broken heart after France went out of the World cup.

The 1st game was against Maidenhead (last year’s league winners). We started quite well matching up to about 8 or 9 points then we must have gone to sleep or something as they put on 10 points from one server….erm! But we fort back a bit to end the set with 17.
The next set was much better with some good passes, sets and hits and we were 22 21 to them towards the end of the set, I think at this point the heavy sent of a set over whelmed us and we lost 21/25….. All agreed fun to play. So lost 2-0

We then took on Spikos 1 and what a lot of big boys they had….
We start this with good for the 1st 2 points were the score was 1 each after that good start…… we seem to forget how to pass and soon found ourselves 14-5 down and the set was lost to 12, but on the bright side we still had all 6 still on the court and this with Sam as ref (3 of us in the past have lost it with him…erm).
At the start of the 2nd set we got off to a great start getting a couple of points ahead, we were even pleasing the crowd well Yang and Janka anyway (I think they were really laughing at us ). In the middle of the set I did raise my voice a little at one point (sorry boys) but we still stayed ahead right to the end wining it 25-23.
The final set…. We stayed with them right up to 2 all then we just went mental and lost 8 straight points so the set just ran out 15-8, so we lost 2-1 at last we had got as set from that game we also had man of the match so old guy who shouted a lot…..

Mark was then 1st ref with Rune 2nd and Janka kindly did the score sheet all 3 done a great job in a hard fast game which I think Spikos won?

So we left like the French with nothing!!!
