Unfortunately one of the teams pulled out last minute so we only played Newbury which we lost to 14-25 25-14 17-19. The Oxford team consisted of Kerstin, Jon, Sam, Cornelius, Rune, Matt and myself. It was a very close match but the luck was on their side. This means we are in the middle of the league. Afterwards we played a friendly match against Newbury, which we won (I was flipping over the score sheets).

Thanks to Kris, Jason and Mark for helping out as referees and assistant. It was also great to have the support of Jeff + family, Cornelius and Sam’s alleged friends.

Regarding the match on Sunday 2 December (venue tbc but near Reading) could Jon, Jitka and Matt please get back to me either tomorrow or at training Thursday.

The first match this season was played last Sunday in Reading. The Oxford team was based on previous seasons and attendance on our training sessions. Quite a lot of players could not make it but we ended up with a team of seven players; Kerstin, Tigger, Rune, Jitka, Cornelius, Sam and myself. Our opponents were Spikopath 3, which we easily beat in two sets. The other team Maidenhead was extremely good at covering and we lost in three sets. Unfortunately Tigger injured his shoulder in the second set against Maidenhead and had to leave court. Provided that this was our first match this season and we had not had the chance to train as a team I think we did very well. Maidenhead is currently at the top of the league and has won their three other matches 2-0. Hopefully we are going to beat Maidenhead next time!

Well done team and hope Tigger managed to steer his car home safely.
