On
Sunday 9th of November, Oxford Ladies NVL Team played their second cup game
against Ashcombe Dorking (from NVL Division 1), and won 3 sets to 1. It was very
close game with only couple of points difference in every set.
The
first set went in Oxford’s favour, the team showing strength to stay in the set
until the very last point, and leaving the coach with a mild heart attack after
every lost point along the way.
In
the second set, Ashcombe had seven non-returnable serves in a row, and went on
to win the set. The last two sets, however, turned out in Oxford’s favour.
Although
playing a team from a higher division, Oxford Ladies showed better volleyball in
every aspect: setting, hitting and serving. However,
there were several unforced errors, which didn’t do anything for Jon’s state of
health.
