The Eagles make it to the SEVA cup!

The Eagles had their last BVA league match of the season last weekend, travelling to Reading to take on Reading Aces and Newbury Ladies. With an almost full squad of 9 players (Izzy, Karina, Giulia, Maite, Stef, Tati, Carey, Vicky and Helen), the Eagles and coach Neil had plenty of options. True to form, the Eagles kept Neil on edge throughout the first match, allowing Reading Aces to take the first set. But we rallied and eventually won the match 19-25, 25-15, 15-10, with Izzy nominated as MVP.

Newbury Ladies had struggled to get a full team together and their woes were compounded by traffic issues, leading to changes in playing order. Still a player down and fielding a phantom, Newbury were on the back foot and the Eagles took the match in 2 sets (25-16, 25-16), with Maite as MVP and the Eagles finishing second in the league and securing a place in the SEVA cup in May. Go Eagles!!!

This was Izzy's last league match with the Eagles before she moves on to the dizzy heights of our ladies' NVL team, and the Eagles would like to give her a big thank you for her fabulous team play and captaining skills, it won't be the same without her!!! We'd also like to send an equally big thank you to our coach, Neil, for all his hard work and patience throughout the season - Neil, we don't know how you put up with us but thank you!!!
